My Little Robot Identity Project.
This week we were given a task by Chris and Niklas to create a brand identity for a website entitled "My Little Robot". This is a website targeting the young people to office staff, gamers, and Internet fiends.
The aim was for people to create their own robot with various different personal qualities, such as speed, aggression, power, intelligence, and for the robots to go into combat with other peoples robot when a challenge fight was set.
Gathering Research.
Before I began to mind map the word 'robot' for some envision purposes, I thought it would make sense to get a couple of diverse dictionary definition of the word.
Above is what dictionary.com had to say with regards to the word.
These definitions are from urbandictionary.com - a slightly more slang/humour based site with urban words defined by regular people.
Getting robot thoughts out with mind mapping.
Above we see the mind map that I drew up to gather some initial thoughts for starting the project.
I grabbed a few robot images from movies and cartoons that I have seen before, some really old and some recent. I threw them into one image very quickly just as a visual aid to myself.
Comics and books.
Above is the first cover of the Marvel comic magazine "Machine Man", first published in 1978. It is interesting to see that back then, and even now, we still have the same basic envisions of what robots look like to us.
Existing Robotic Games

I researched a few games that have been out there for a while to look at the styles again. I looked at a few old games from way back in the 1980s to games of recent times.
Needs of the project.
The branding and Identity in my opinion for My Little Robot should give a sense of:- Strategy
- Fun
- Construction
- Competitivness
- Combat
- Outsmarting the other guy
- Power/Strength
Researching appropriate type.
After lectures and reading around the subject of type, I decided to look into appropriate type that could be used in this project.
I ideally want my font to convey the meaning of:
- Futuristic
- Shiny
- Sci-fi
- Hi-Tech
- Machine style
- Modern
- Slightly tarnished
- Combat
- Warfare
I used www.dafont.com for researching a few fonts that may work. I selected a few for each style I mentioned above and I will use some of the best ones for the project.

Summary
Was a very busy week researching and getting some work down for this project. I have enjoyed it however, I feel like I have went through a nice creative flow, and I know that i'll always improve the more I do this kind of work.
Not all the work is mind blowing, but it is a steady learning process and i'm happy that I got to do this project.
